David Miller Sales was established in Cape Town by David Miller in 1975 as a trade supplier of locks and locksmith's supplies. In order to satisfy a demand from commerce, industry and the public, installation of locks, electric locks and locking systems was begun in 1980 under the name David Miller Security. In 1989, the close corporation was formed, and the name The Lockshop was registered for the over-the-counter sales operation, which supplies the building, joinery, hardware, locksmith, security, shop fitting and other trades, as well as the public, with a vast range of locks and other ironmongery relating to doors. David Miller Security continued to carry out a limited number of installations of better quality locks, door closers, panic and emergency exit hardware, access control systems and other locking devices, to a high standard.

The Lockshop’s core business today is supplying locks, handles, panic and emergency exit hardware, door closers, access control equipment and hardware for doors. Home builders, renovators and the public are catered for in our shop in Paarden Island, Cape Town, where a vast range of locks, door handles and knobs are on display.

DMS SECURITY SOLUTIONS is the name and logo adopted to more accurately reflect the technology and direction taken by David Miller Security. DMS Security Solutions will continue to carry out a limited number of top quality installations using only the best components available from all over the world.

David Miller is a Member of ASIS International, the largest organization of Security Professionals in the world, and has served on the Committee of ASIS International, Chapter 203: Cape Town, for more than 20 years. A Certified Protection Professional (CPP), he is a Member of the SA Institute of Security (M.I.S. SA), serving on the Institute’s Board of Governors. He has served on the Committee of the Locksmiths Association of SA for over 25 years.

David Miller offers a professional consultancy and trouble-shooting service by prior appointment only, offering clients the benefits of his 45 years of personal experience in locks, security hardware and door ironmongery. Services offered include writing of specifications and documents for tendering, appointment and overseeing of contractors and attending commissioning and handover of completed work
